Founded over 20 years ago, award-winning Demica is a market-leading fintech, providing an intuitive, cloud-based platform that enables financial institutions and corporates to automate and scale their working capital solutions.

Today, their platform infrastructure connects 250 banks and non-bank financial institutions to hundreds of large corporate businesses around the world.

Business challenge

Demica serves a demanding market of global financial institutions, all seeking process optimisation and high-quality digital experiences for their customers.

To stay competitive, the organisation needs to continually evolve its platform with new functionalities, integrate seamlessly with its clients’ existing systems, and ensure smooth operation setup and processing.

This demands a highly adaptable solution that supports reliable connection with diverse client infrastructures.

As Demica’s trusted technology partner for the past seven years, we were engaged to help advance their platform and create a unified digital experience specifically for some of their top-tier clients.

Integration with a global bank

We assisted Demica in implementing an API to facilitate communication between their platform and the system of a top 10 global bank, as ranked by assets on the S&P list.

We ensured solution’s functionality and precise alignment across systems. We proactively contributed insights on feasible implementation strategies and validated functional requirements, thanks to our understanding of both the financial institution’s business model and their technical environment.

We also helped develop the platform’s automated data processing capabilities, specifically to meet the needs of both the bank and their clients, reducing the need for their manual intervention, including:

  • automated Host-to-Host (H2H) integration, where files from the financial institution are identified and uploaded to the platform automatically based solely on file name data only, removing the need for manual uploads,
  • comprehensive data synchronisation across Demica’s platform and the bank’s infrastructure, where our solution automates updates to and from their internal systems; this includes uploading computed data directly into the bank’s systems and integrating incoming data from their platform into Demica’s, ensuring real-time alignment without the need for additional manual effort.

The integration allows the platform to expand with new functionalities and data operations, making it adaptable to the evolving financial market.

The solution strengthens Demica’s competitive position by offering flexible white-label solutions, while also improving the user experience through intuitive self-management capabilities and multi-language support.

Enabling event-driven communication

Yet another development emerged when a global credit insurance provider transitioned from a SOAP API to a new REST API, switching from a polling to a publish-subscribe approach in communication with the platform. This shift required Demica to adjust to real-time, event-driven communication with the insurer’s systems.

To maintain uninterrupted data exchange with the insurer, Demica needed to develop a new integration within a tightly set deadline. As the organisation’s trusted technology partner, we were brought in to help execute this integration as well.

In this project, we took a proactive role, independently driving discussions with stakeholders to find and build an optimal solution. We gathered requirements, offered recommendations, and made independent decisions to drive the project’s successful delivery.

With a production deadline by year-end, the integration is set to bridge the new API with Demica’s platform, leveraging notification-driven model to enable immediate data availability. This approach ensures that critical updates are pushed in real time, reinforcing Demica’s commitment to responsiveness and agility in data exchange.

Supporting processing setup

One of Demica’s high-profile projects involved supporting yet another financial institution from the S&P top 10 list in handling complex processing setup for multiple organisations.

The project required migrating and integrating over 30 transactions (reflecting the individual configuration of components such as cash flow, financial events, and workflow) from a previous service provider.

Demica faced tight deadlines and substantial data volumes, including up to 650,000 invoices from 30 sellers in a single monthly transaction.

Furthermore, each transaction had its unique requirements, such as managing multiple currencies and specific legal obligations.

To address these challenges, we provided a dedicated team, including a Business Analyst (BA) and Quality Assurance engineers to enhance Demica’s internal capabilities.

Our team actively supported the setup and processing, assisting in the analysis of large data sets and ensuring that each transaction aligned with the client’s requirements and legal agreements.

With domain knowledge and deep understanding of the workflow, we were able to quickly address complexities, enabling Demica to stay on track with the project’s timeline.

With our support, Demica successfully integrated all the required transactions, providing the financial institution and their clients with a stable and reliable data processing that ensured complete reporting accuracy.
